Commendation Awarded to Hon. Dr. 'Ana Maui Taufe'ulungaki

On July 23rd, His Excellency Dr. Kazuchika Hamuro awarded the first Ambassador's Commendation to Honourable Dr. 'Ana Maui Taufe'ulungaki, Minister for Education and Training of the Kingdom of Tonga at the official residence of Japanese Ambassador
His Excellency, Dr. Kazuchika Hamuro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Tonga in his remarks noted that the exhibition highlighted Japan's architects, and is responsible for showcasing the birth of Japanese modern architecture. "Sharing the different aspects of Japanese culture is integral to keeping and strengthening the friendship between Japan and Tonga. I sincerely hope that through this exhibition, the people of Tonga will be able to deepen their understanding of Japan and its culture." said the Ambassador.
Hon. Dr. Taufe'ulungaki is honored of her distinguished contribution towards deepening of mutual understanding and friendship between the Government and people of Japan and the Government and people of the Kingdom of Tonga. Dr. Taufe'ulungaki served various positions in Tonga's education sector since 1970 and contributed highly to friendship of the two countries through promoting Japanese activities extensively. After her assumption of Minister for Education in 2011, she sustained contributing to the Embassy of Japan in supporting events such as Japanese Speech Contest and Soroban Contest, and raising public awareness into the Japanese education and culture throughout the Kingdom.
The Commendation, which is awarded by the head of the diplomatic mission of Japan, is to recognize a person's significant contribution to the bilateral relations between Japan and his or her country. -
