Groundbreaking ceremony for Montfort Technical Institute, Student’s Dormitory

H.E Mr. Tetsuya Ishii, Ambassador of Japan to Tonga attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the project for the construction of a student’s dormitory for Montfort Technical Institute, on Wednesday 4 April 2018 along with His Eminence Soane Patita Paini Cardinal Mafi.

The Project is funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass Roots Human Security Project(GGP) with a grant amount of USD$87,831.

The new student’s dormitory will be the first dormitory for Montfort since it was established in 1996.

The dormitory building will be named as Bro. Josepth Kottoor Memorial Boys Hostel, in tribute to the first principal of the institute who recently passed away early this year.

Montfort is a Technical Institute offering technical courses in Carpentry, Automotive Mechanical and Electric engineering. Brother Curzmecias Sebastian, Principal of Montfort said the project will provide an accommodation facility for students attending from the outer islands. They appreciate Japan’s generous assistances, and are looking forward to the completion of the project.
