Condolences Bouquet after Ten Years

His Excellency Mr. Tetsuya Ishii, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Tonga laid a bouquet this morning, 7 of August at the memorial wall of the MV Princess Ashika victims at Vakataumai cemetery in Ma’ufanga, in memory of the late Mr. Hiroshi UMEDA of Japan, who was amongst the 74 victims.
The late Umeda, age 70, was a JICA senior volunteer and was serving in Nuku’alofa as a Marine Electrical Engineer for the Shipping Corporation, and was on board as a crewmember.
The MV Princess Ashika sank on the night of August 5, 2009 between the Tongatapu and Ha’apai group of islands.
