Two GGP Project for Tonga were signed

The signing ceremony for Japan’s GGP, Friday 22 January 2021 at Tonga’s Ministry of Finance, St. George Building
The Grant Contract on the Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project,  GGP were signed on Friday, 22 January 2021 at the Ministry of Finance, in Nuku‘alofa.

H.E. Mr. MUNENAGA Kensaku, Ambassador Designate of Japan to Tonga witnessed the signing ceremony along with Hon. Tevita Lavemaau, Minister for Finance and Minister for Revenue and Customs. Also present were Mr. KAMADA Yasuhiko, Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan, Chief Executive Officers of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, and Tonga’s Fire Commissioner, Contractors and Auditors for the Projects.

The two Projects signed are; a new health clinic for Ma’ufanga village through Ministry of Health, and a 7,000liter water tanker for Tonga’s Fire and Emergency Services.

H.E. MUNENAGA said, “Today’s two projects will enable the relevant services to reach the communities more effectively and through such efforts and activities, you can achieve your vital social roles and missions of public services.”  

“I strongly hope that these projects will play a great role in construction stronger and more resilient societies for the future and that our friendship will continue to be enriched by our cooperation,” stated Ambassador MUNENAGA.

Tonga’s Fire and Emergency Commissioner, Viliami Tu’ihalamaka thanked the Government of Japan for the generous assistance towards the common goal of a safer and secure society for Tonga. He said each project was significant, and having top priority in the agenda.

The Project signatories were; Dr. Siale ‘Akau’ola, CEO for Ministry of Health and Mr. Viliami. F. Tu’ihalamaka, Commissioner for Tonga Fire and Emergency Services.
