District Soroban Competition 2021 – Successful

The district soroban competitions for Vava’u primary schools was successfully concluded on Thursday, 17 June at Fakamelino Hall, Neiafu.
The annual district competitions being held each for the outer islands of Ha’apai, Vava’u, ‘Eua, the three districts for Tongatapu since 2010, were also held for the Niuatoputapu islands last year, and the Niuafo’ou this year.

Top best schools from the ‘Eua, Niuataputapu, Niuafo’ou and Vava’u islands competitions are listed below;

Vava’u district soroban competition
1st place - GPS Makave
2nd place – GPS Longomau
3rd place – GPS Feletoa
Niua Fo’ou district soroban competition, held on Friday 11 June
1st place - GPS ‘Alele’uta
2nd place – GPS Tongamama’o
Niua Toputapu district soroban competition, held on Friday 11 June
1st place – GPS Hihifo
2nd place – GPS Falehau
‘Eua district soroban competiton, held on Tuesday, 8 June
1st place – GPS ‘Ohonua
2nd place – GPS Angaha
3rd place – GPS Ta’anga
 
With the district competition completed, schools are preparing for the National Competition later this year, in November.
 
The Soroban Competition is a joint collaboration of the Embassy of Japan and Tonga’s Ministry of Education and Training, with the support of the Japan International Soroban Diffusion Foundation, Tonga Soroban Education Association and JICA Tonga Office.
