The Presentation of Credentials by H.E. Mr. INAGAKI Hisao

On April 17, 2024, His Excellency Mr. INAGAKI Hisao, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Tonga presented his credentials to His Majesty King Tupou VI of the Kingdom of Tonga, at the Royal Palace in Nuku‘alofa.
His Excellency Mr. INAGAKI was honored to have an audience with His Majesty King Tupou VI and the opportunity to conveyed the best wishes from His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. The Imperial Household of Japan and the Royal Household of Tonga’s long and close relationship, have strengthen the friendly relations between both countries.
H.E. Mr. INAGAKI affirms to promote cooperation with Tonga and further strengthen the relationship toward the realization of a “free and open Indo-Pacific” based on the rule of law.
Ambassador INAGAKI joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985 and with almost forty years in the Ministry he served as Principal Senior Coordinator for Information and Communications Systems in the Information and Communications Division, Director of Internet Public Relations Division, the IT and Public Information Office in the Public Information, Culture and Diplomacy Strategy Division. His previous assignments included been posted to Washington DC, Chicago, and Seattle in the United States, after earning master of science degrees from both Tokyo Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Before his appointment to Tonga he was the Consul-General of Japan in Seattle at the Consulate-General of Japan since July 2020. He arrived in December 2023 as the sixth resident Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Tonga, succeeding the role of His Excellency Mr. MUNENAGA Kensaku.
